Systems, Structure and Self-Expression
Day 22: How to Recognize Contribution That Has No Audience
RAMADAN
Some of the most structurally important work that happens in any system — a family, an organization, a community — is done without recognition. Not because the people doing it are modest, but because the work does not attract attention by nature. It is maintenance. It is consistency. It is the kind of contribution that only becomes visible when it stops.
Today, name one person in your life who does this work. Not to thank them in your mind — to name them clearly and accurately, with an understanding of what their contribution is actually holding up.
The capacity to see this in others is related to the capacity to do it yourself. Recognizing invisible contribution is a form of attention that has to be practiced. This is today's practice.
